Thank you to all for helping us shepherd in a name for our (unofficial) mascot of The 2011 Old Farmer’s Almanac!
We tried out a bunch of names for our little ewe and she responded to . . .
ALMA!
It so happened that more than 100 of our readers thought that Alma fit, too. We randomly selected one reader’s name from all of those who submitted the winning name, Alma.
Congrats to Michelle Lutz! We’ll be sending you a bundle of Almanac products, including copies of The 2011 Old Farmer’s Almanac and Everyday Recipes cookbook.
- Here are some more of our favorites—
- Woolimina
- Lady BaBa
- Baa-rometer
- Baabra
- Berneece LaFleece
- Ewenice
- Fleur de Fleece
- Rebaaa
- Woolmaa
Thank ewe for helping us give our woolly 2011 mascot a name! Some of the names were hysterical (as you can see right on this page) and we had a flock of fun!

i don't mean to be a downer
i don't mean to be a downer but couldn't you have chosen a more classic looking sheep that would represent an organization that was created in 1792? the brooks brothers sheep logo for instance-that's a classic. this should be in a storybook for preschool children. love your concept but don't like this much.
Look more closley at that
Look more closley at that logo. It looks like that sheep is tied in a sling, limp, in an enlarged image you can see a tear in it's eye. I like the fluffy sheep. It's happy.

um, i wasn't saying use someone else's logo, i was saying come up with something classic like that is. this almanac was created in 1792 and i would like to see see something honoring our colonial heritage.
