If I send my essay in a week

By Sam B.

If I send my essay in a week prior to the deadline, will I still have a chance of placing? I guess what I'm asking is: will my essay really be read if I send it in a week before the deadline or will you already have picked the finalists?

I remember a Christmas long

By nancy bernardo

I remember a Christmas long ago when I was 5 years old & my brother Charlie was 7 years old. Our Mother asked us to make out our Christmas lists. Of course mine was long with many things {that I would not get} on it. However Charlie's list had just one thing on it. A Farmer's Almanac. My Mother said, "Charlie, you must want something else??". He looked up at our Mother & said "no Mama, just the Farmer's Almanac please". What an impression your magazine had even back then on a child so young. Charlie got his Farmer's Almanac for Christmas that year & kept it in his back pocket wherever he went...

By Spence T.

I remember this like it was yesterday though it happened in 1958,I came out of a small mom and pop store near my home in Pennsylvania as I was about to get in my auto I noticed a screech owl lying along the road when checking it seemed to be alive so I put it on floor of my auto where heat came out as I headed on my way to where I was going after about 10 min.it sprang to life and flew up on my seat then things got lively as it flew around in my car which was a 1957 Chevrolet 2 door hardtop so around it flew until I had a chance to get off the road put windows down and into the night it flew.
