Almanac Recipe Contest

Every year, The Old Farmer’s Almanac holds a recipe contest with cash prizes. 

THE 2017 SWEET POTATO RECIPE CONTEST

This year, the contest features recipes using sweet potatoes! Enter your recipe(s) here.

Cash prizes (first, $250; second, $150; third, $100) will be awarded for the best recipes in the category “Sweet Potatoes.” Entries must be yours, original, and unpublished. Amateur cooks only, please. One recipe per person. All entries become the property of Yankee Publishing, which reserves all rights to the material. The deadline for entries is Friday, January 27, 2017. Enter here (see link above) or mail to The Old Farmer’s Almanac, P.O. Box 520, Dublin, NH 03444. Address to “Almanac Recipe Contest” and include your name, mailing address, and email address. Winners will appear in The 2018 Old Farmer’s Almanac and on Almanac.com.

The winners will be announced in The 2015 Old Farmer's Almanac which is issued in late August/early September.

Simply Delicious Baked

Simply Delicious Baked Asparagus

Layer a cookie sheet with fresh asparagus.
Spray with cooking spray or brush with cooking oil.
Sprinkle with any desired herbs and spices.*
Bake in preheated 350F oven for 15 mins. Check for tenderness. Bake an additional 15 mins or until desired tenderness is reached. Serve immediately.

*I like to use Italian herbs and fresh ground pepper. Or, alternately, use sesame seeds, soy sauce and other Asian-inspired herbs.
