Predicting Weather Using a Persimmon Seed!

I live in Southern Illinois and every seed I cut open shows spoons !!!! I cut open 5 and a friend cut open 5 of hers, different area still in Illinois. All spoons !!!!

I just heard of this weather predicting technique yesterday from my mother and tonight I told my husband about it and he says we have a persimmon tree so I cut one open and 3 seeds were spoons, one was a knife, and one was a spoon and a knife.

Cut 5 today all spoons i live in sw missouri

Cut open several in Logan county KY and in eastern MO all have been spoons so far.

If persimmons don't grow in your area how can they predict the weather in your area?

What about Alabama? Has anyone in Alabama tried this?

This is a fun thing to do with your kids and grandkids. Just don't cut your finger!!

I live in central Louisiana. Cut open a persimmon on 9/13/12. Found a spoon inside.

Today 9/18/2012, I just cut open 5 seeds. I had 3 spoons, 1 knife and 1 that had both a spoon and a knife. Should be interesting for St. Louis area.

We live in Central Mississippi. We opened our Persimmon seeds and got SPOONS.

we've just discovered one and it is rather tall how to trim back just to reach fruit

Cut open 5 here in central Ky today 9/23/12. Found 4 spoons and 1 knife. Seem's pretty consistent with the other comment's.

On 9-25-12 our 3rd grade class in McAlester, OK cut open 6 seeds and found spoons and 1 knife. My class is very excited for possible snow!!!

We just cut open 3 seeds with the kiddo and all were spoons! Bring on the snow!!!!

Opened a few last night and they were all spoons - we live on the North Carolina piedmont. BTW: Be CAREFUL opening these things (she said, typing with a bandage on her thumb.) They are hard and slippery - I found it worked best to grip them with a paper towel while pushing straight down hard with the knife.

Here in the Piedmont region of NC so far all 20 seeds have contained spoons. I say Bring it on love to have some cold weather and snow.

Dallas Ga, cut open 4 seed today all had spoons. Bring it on, looking for snow.

Oct 2012 cut open two persimmon seeds in Birmingham, Alabama and both were spoons! Yay for snow in Alabama. It will be a rare winter.

Used three different persimmons and tested 2 seeds from each. All had a spoon shaped shadow in the center of the kernel. Louisville, KY

Cracked open 4 persimmon seeds today (10-05-2012)... All were spoons. SouthCentral Oklahoma.

We opened about 10 seeds in Knoxville,Tn and they were all spoons! Could be an interesting winter!
