Hey, folks, for those of you who may recognize me, it's Melanie from Oregon. You may remember me from oh, about a hundred years ago.
I just learned that our Betty (the very same sweet Betty who's been posting here forever) had a small stroke. She has been in the hospital all week. They just moved her over to a therapy section of the hospital; they say maybe 3 weeks before she might get back online. She has lost partial use of her right side.
This is a heads-up for you all so that those of you who wish to do so can send her all the love and good thoughts you can.
I'll get back on here within the next day or so to see if anyone else has her contact info and has a way we can send cards or flowers to her, but I don't have any contact info for her or any further information myself. This news came from another online friend.
Wish I wasn't the bearer of bad news on my first visit back here in ages. :(

I am so sorry to hear that !! I have been posting for years & I just love all the threads that Betty posts. I was wondering where she was. Thank you for the information about our TOFA friend. I will pray for her recovery.
This is very upsetting news. I do pray Betty has a speedy recovery and regains movement on her right side.

Speedy recovery and hope to see you on the "puter" soon! Typing can be a form of rehab, my sister after her stroke used the keyboard to help her to gain her cognitive and dexterity skills back. Maybe you will find it useful, we sure miss you!
Lantana, good thinkin' there, I hope Betty comes back when she can. That initial shock of not feeling the same is a hard hurdle, and ol' habits can get ignored because we just don't feel like we can do them with the same skill ... a real ego buster. Although our friends -- good friends -- probably aren't even judging us that way. Us human beans are funny creatures.

Betty sent me a birthday card with a note in it. She said she is still going to therapy and they are giving her a workout. Recovery is coming along slowly, she is practicing to write but she cannot drive yet...she really misses driving. :)
It was so good to hear from Betty! Hurry up and get well Betty, we are all thinking and praying for you.

I heard from Betty yesterday, she is coming along fine & feels pretty good. She has been baking, wrapping Christmas present, & doing her home exercises. I am so happy that she is getting back to her old self !!

The last I remember of you, was when you were a tad short of money to get some dental work done, and that seems like Eons ago.
I hope that things are well, I had a note from Betty yesterday (16th Jan) things are getting better slowly, she is learning to take things easy a little at a time.
