Bill Z, I've been keeping in

Bill Z, I've been keeping in touch with Dutch now and then. I know, I don't post much now either; it took a terrible thing to bring me back. But Dutch and Shell are doing ok. And, Tina (Mrsbone) always sends me a Christmas card. Char Taylor and I email now and then too. The "Old Guard" is still around, just not as active as in the past. Leaving it for the newer generations.

(And, aren't you glad to be counted among the newer generations? :p )

New generation

One of the reasons I came to TOFA was because of the old timers(respectfully) who shared their knowledge on the forums here. Their "how to's", "how not to's", "when to's" and "I remember when's." I've always enjoyed that and I wish the old forums were still around. But you know the old saying, "You can wish in one hand and...oh, never mind. :P

Ahh, but Blacksheep, now

Ahh, but Blacksheep, now you're one of the ones who will pass the lore down. (Be sure ya gets it right, now. Plant crops that grow above the ground in the light of the moon and root crops like taters and turnips in the dark of the moon!)

Really, though, that lore, the how-tos, the how-not-tos, the whys and why-nots, are part of the spirit of this place and part of what has made it so popular all these years.

I forgot....

....that you could not find anyone with his email. There have been a few email addy's on the ones I got for people that were on here before me. I had heard of them but had never seen them on here. Maybe one of them had it? Then again maybe Bump is having fun messing with you....that is always a good time. :)

old forums

On the old forums, if you would click on a member's name you would be lead to that person's profile page. Bump had his e-mail addy there, so anyone could have got it. In fact I still remember his addy and I sent him a couple of e-mails back in '08 after he hadn't posted in a while. I never got a reply tho, so I gave up. As I recall he was quite busy with farming and tending to his horses, not to mention being up late at night answering questions on the gardening forum. Maybe he just grew tired and decided to take a very long break from here.

TxAnn, it is odd to be counted with the "newer generations" since I may be the only one left who read Stuie's original "mole eradication" post. It was one of the funniest things I have ever read but unfortunatly I failed to save it.

Mole Eradication

We had a mole eradication problem - attempt - just West of here a couple of years ago. Unfortunately they hadn't followed correct protocol for the procedure.

The idea was to open a valve on the propane tank and let the gas go down a pipe into one of the tunnels for a while, then put a match to it.

The resulting fire consumed 2 houses and quite a number of acres of stubble.

That's life !!!

Bill, I knew that you are

Bill, I knew that you are probably the last remaining (active) member of the original group. I joined the TOFA gang in 2000. But you have a young outlook, so you'll be forever young. *smile*

Let me look under the email rock. I may need help lifting it. Hey Blacksheep, give me a hand please. It's kinda heavy. Emily :P
