Our Forums Have Closed

Hi, Everyone,

We have decided to close the Almanac forums.

The good news: Now you have the ability to comment on the www.Almanac.com Web site pages!

The Web site has grown tremendously, with 12 million readers every month. You'll find folks who are weather watchers, gardening enthusiasts, stargazers, and more. Find advice, get answers to questions, and share your experiences.

Find the Almanac here, too!

Finally, a big THANK YOU to all those who have participated in and looked after the forums over the years!

I have tried very hard to remain optimistic about the new web site. However I have counted the number of times that a "black screen" of advertisements has appeared when first starting up. Of the past 20 times I've opened the site the "black screen" of ads has appeared 14 times. I know that ads pay for this site but you would think that with all the ads that make up the border, on the sides, etc that on start up there would give some relief, just maybe a little relief.
Therefore, I'm checking in, I'm checking out and will try again about every 3 - 6 months to see if anything has changed. If not it has been great to spend some time with you and best of luck in the future.

Hate to see you go

We hate to see you go Harry. Why not check in a couple of times a week to see if you find a topic of interest.

I don't like the new layout or "black screen" either but I tolerate it on other sites so I can tolerate it here.

Hate to see anyone go

Harry I am not enthralled with the new site. But the fact of the black screen and the numerous adverts that I couldn't take up if I wanted to (living wrong side of the pond) doesn't detract from the value I put on the folks on this site.
In life you will be in contact with many folk all over the universe but every now and again you meet someone who is pure gold. the folks on this site are just that. They have always made me welcome and I truly value their friendship. A few annoying adverts will not let me risk losing them I assure you.

Harry, stick around...

All these adds may help pay for a new forum. Money is the delay right now. I agree with Bill, check in every couple weeks. We would miss ya buddy...

Harry! Try This

I get less ads depending on what browser I use. Internet Explorer 8 blocks them really well!

Good Luck to ya, maybe we'll hear from you soon ...

Harry's complaint

I've had the same bloody screen too. But this is what I do. I right click on the screen and it goes away and then I sign in. TOFA were jerks to make the change and they sit there and wonder why everyone is leaving or left. BTW, does anyone know Harry's email address? I would love to keep in touch with him. Emily

I have it......

....You can get my email from Stuie, PJ or Deb and I will send it to you. If this thing has a PM I can't seem to find it to do it that way.

I still can't stand what they did to this site!! I hate that they jumped into this with out really taking into account the people that have used this for years and have been true to this site. I just was doing my monthly fly-by and see that it will be atleast another month before I try again.

Hope you are all doing well and have a blessed and wonderful Christmas filled with family and friends. ((((hugggsss))))

Hey Redmink

I was using IE8 for about 9 months and it crashed on me early in the year. It would not allow me to get online period. My husband had to put back IE6 for me. Just watch out if that happens to you. Problem with MS is that they come out with new stuff and they never test them for bugs etc. Emily

True TampaParrot!

And for the longest time, I ran MSoft stuff without updates AND without problems.

But since IE7, I've been taking the scheduled updates and have done fairly well.

HOWEVER, it didn't stop me from loading Apple's Safari for Windows which is MUCH MORE STABLE.

I've worked with Windows since Day 1 (hated leaving DOS actually) and I've watched the "new and improved" versions still dragging along the first problems they never fixed!!

If I worked like that, I'd be fired.
