Being at the northern end of it, we got about 16 inches of the white stuff.
what have you gotten from it?
I live in SE PA & we got about 2 feet, I originally thought it was 1 1/2 foot. I love snow & this was a wonderful big one !!! :o)
My friends in West Virg. have just told me they have 48inches and it is still snowing!!!!!!!!!
Another storm coming our way Tuesday & Wednesday, no particulars on the storm yet except it will be an accumulating & probably plowable event. I don't know where they are going to put all this snow !!!
Northwest NJ had 3", but the blowing cold was quick to follow.
Seems interstate 80 was a dividing line. Quakertown PA had about 18" whereas my folks in Allentown PA had 3-5".
Just enough to get everyone excited!
We'll see what Tues/Wed brings ... :puzzled: :quest:
Supposed to be another foot of snow in SE PA betueen Tuesday night & Wednesday. Can't ever remember when we have had 2 big snowstorms back to back like this, most awesome !!!
Nothing but a cold rain in most of Georgia. Some of the mountain areas had ice and some snow.
we have about 11" of the white stuff and more on the way tomorrow. about another 3". Another storm coming on Saturday and Sunday. Blowing and drifting starts tomorrow morning.
the predictions are different here, some say 4 to 8, others say 6 to 10. When I left for work at 5am we had 3 inches and more coming.
I have no idea how much we got from this one... ALl I Know... I sm tired of looking at WHITE. I need some COLORS!!!
You want colours keep an eye on your emails. I'll see what I can do.Have you any little ones (children I meant, not animals)
Your very good friend Colin
OR, please DO laugh!
At times in the winter, I cook barbecue chicken and make potato salad, spread out a blanket on the living room floor and have a picnic!
Cats are glad because the chicken is that much closer ;)
Kinda breaks up the monotony.
Wear red, it'll make ya feel better!! 8)
That sounds great except we couldn't do it without inviting our 80 lb boxer Snoopy!Well, he invites himself! : )
When I worked at a riding stables where we all brought our dogs to work, we had to eat lunch up in the carriage if we wanted to eat at all!
Give Snoopy a hug for me!
Getting another 4-8" Monday, we already have 4' on the ground !!! This winter is astounding !!!!
We are getting another 9" tonight and then heading towards Sheila and YB.
I am tired of snow and shoveling the driveway.
Come on spring........
:tired: :tired: :tired:
We had 3" on Friday, about a half inch last night. Driveway is slick, hope to get out later today. We had to walk up it Friday afternoon. We might have made it with a running start but we stopped to get the mail.
ye-haa, more shoveling.... he say's sarcastically
was suppose to get 4-7 inches and we only got one by this morning.... what a rip lol...
Yeh YB, last night was a bust.
BUT, by 9am thick fat flakes started and now it's the fine stuff (usually means to last awhile), so we're not done yet ... :)
(Delaware Water Gap)
By the way, that was some truck/car pile-up on Rt. 80 north of State College, 30 tractor trailers and 20 cars, 1 dead, 18 injured? Wow, I can't imagine being in the middle of something like that, just helpless to stop. I've been on that road in the summer, sure is wild enough out there.
There was nearly a repeat of the disaster a couple winters ago with all the stranded drivers needing rescue by the natl. guard ... don't know what's up with not plowing the ramps.
I-80 where the accident happened was up in the mountains, they get a lot more snow than I get.
I guess I was on the northern end of this storm, people south of me by about 10 miles got 2-3 inches.
As far as the other accident you mentioned, that is why they tell you to keep a survival kit in your car.
Too true YB! Sure, there's the idea that "somebody" is supposed to do maintenance to keep us safe/happy ...
BUT, then there's the saying that God can work miracles but you better bring a shovel.
I remember from the old forum the lists people posted on home survival in the case of the hurricanes/flooding that was going on. Lots of good ideas.
Our local Walmart offers free ice and water to non-homeowners in case of long power-outs, very considerate.
To all you snow lovers - God Bless you
In South Texas we seldom ever have snow and I love it.
Since you guys have been seeing snow we have been seeing rain here. My garden is saturated so much that I can't even drive into the garden area.
That's OK for now - it will dry out soon and the soil will be perfect for planting in about two weeks.
Got some more snow of some kind maybe coming Monday, but don't know how much yet. Stay tuned !
That's what the almanac says for this week, and you know, with this last snowfall, the frigid cold didn't last, the birds were more active ... we have plenty of chickadees in the area.
And it just feels "lighter", the temps came up quickly ...
So with that and TxBob's southern garden report, my ol' bones are gettin' loose for gardening!!
Only 32 days left until the First Day of Spring, with Easter early on April 4th.
Well I finally was able to get into my garden today. The ground is drying up so I got some tilling done. Plan to plant potatoes tomorrow if it don't rain. Will set out tomatoes after Mar 1 - then plant squash, green beens, turnips, beets, carrots, and others after Mar 15
Can hardly wait.
Hope it doesn't take too long, Plantin season is coming up fast.
