ANYONE and I mean ANYONE gets an email from g_phillp10@yahoo.com delete it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. It's a scam for you to give him money. Claims to be from the Ivy Coast. He somehow found me as TampaParrot here in Tofa. I want this reported to Paul right away. I send a email to Peter Walker to forward my email to Paul. Emily
I came on here to do the same thing. Tell everyone that this is crap and a scam. They somehow got all of our email addresses off the site and are sending spam out to us from this site email addresses. What a sad state of affairs to have this happen here.

I didn't get the email..or maybe I did, I'm pretty good at picking out those emails and if I don't know the person I usually delete it anyway.
To beat a dead horse.. My Mac is impervious to those types of virus's anyway :D

Peter, I’ve sent this along to the programmers to advise how this is happening and how to prevent this from happening again.
This is a very common and well known scam I would hope no one would act on this email or ANY email where a stranger asks them for money.

I am in the position to know may of your email addressess( I think too many s'ss) when you had a discussion on AULD LANG SYNE I for some reason got the lot in my inbox how I do not know. Also PJ I received an email from Paul that I think arrived to you and was passed on to me as well as a lot of other people, all of which the addressess I had in that email. I deleted it but could that have been how the email addressess got out? By a simple mistake.
I am not sure if this helps or just muddies the water.
But never send anyone money on an email appeal as you are never 100% certain where it will end up. I support many charities but have a deed of covenant with them (they claim my income tax back on the donations) that means every £1 I donate they get £1.28 at no extra cost to me. Do they have a similar thing over the pond?

We have that over here it's called matching funds. It could be a large corporation or a small independent group. The leaders from our sons Scout troop matched all the donations given when one of the scout's mother passed away, wasn't that the best?
And get the word out. I can almost think what Stu would've said here :).... I went and hid my email and I hope that will help. I can't get into the heads of these jerks who can come in here or any other forum for that matter and do this. It just brasses me off no end. Emily

Just got an e-mail in my inbox stating that a request to change my login info was made.
It wasn't made by me.
Keep your eyes open on that front, too, and if somehow the person that attempted this with my stuff is successful, be aware that I only check in at TOFA once or twice a year, and I would NEVER spam or scam anyone here or anywhere else.
Likewise, keep your eye on your inboxes for a similar message, and make sure you don't click through. I just let that one lie and came straight here and logged in with my current password.

I got one too but I also got an email from 'Wells Fargo Bank' telling me that there had been an error and that I was owed anundisclosed amount if I would like to give them my details they would pay the monies into my account. Now I though 'Wells Fargo' was a figment of imagination in cowboy films. So this scam was wasted on me. Is there really such a bank in US.

One of their people took an unauthorized electronic mortgage payment out of our account a few years back. The burden of proof was on us to prove that they took the money. Gary was emailing them and calling and finally they admitted THEIR error. Bad Memory!

I've had emails like those and what you can all do is this. Find the web site for what ever "bank" and you will find the abuse section. You can email the real bank the phony email to them. They can handle it from there. Good luck. Emily
