Welcome all, to a place 500 miles West of me, and in the land of a couple of posters on the Weather Forum.
I hope that there will be no more tragedies like this morning,
I hope that All athletes from around the World will do their very best andat least come away with memories.
CANADA will get more medals than you (IF you believe the hype)!!!!!
I watched some of the opening ceremonies, loved the First Nations part.
I MISSED the Lighting Ceremony! Who was the mystery person???????
Rest in peace Nodar Kumaritashvili, you tried and that is an inspiration.
I also hope that it is a good "game" no matter what the tally ... tally shmally!
Pray for snow!! I can't believe the weather took such a mild turn.
Anyone besides me like to hit that Mute button and just watch the events?
Wayne Gretzky (former Owner and Coach of Pheonix Coyotes NHL Team, and Champion Hockey Player in Canada) lit the outdoor flame.
4 people were to light the indoor flame, BUT only 3 of the towers functioned and Catriona LeMay Doan (Champion Speed Skater and very good Ambassador for Sport etc.) was left at the altar !!
Thanks PJ, I saw some pics, it was beautiful anyway!!
Over here in Sussex the winter olympics are being shown live on BBC so it means there are no adverts. Also it does make a little nonsense of your comment Pee Jay about me having a real freeze of 0F what has happened to your can't dig a hole cos of the hard ground. I reckon the tales of cold canada is just a fairy story to try to make us feel sorry for you. What say you Pee Jay.
Sussexman, I don't think Vancouver is representative of Canadian weather. I went there for a convention about 5 years ago and looked up the average temperature for February. Very close to the average for Atlanta. It was very nice while I was there, highs in the upper 40s to low 50s, lows in the low 30s.
I was impressed with the city. Very clean.
