New moon is best for growth (and after full moon is best to inhibit growth), and applies to plant pruning too.
I don't necessarily want my hair to grow any faster, just thicker. What are the best days for that? Unfortunately I have an appt. today so we'll have to just go with this for now, but for future appts. would love to know. My grandparents always used the almanac for planting and livestock work and did very well with it.
Never came across any sign for that ... it seems to be a matter of scalp health, for which cider vinegar is very good.

According to our Astrological Timetable, the best days in April to cut your hair to encourage growth are the 15, 16, 26, 27. I hope this helps!

I always use the Farmers Almanac guide before I cut or shave.(shave on the full moon to inhibit growth, unless you like bushy pits!)

Well tomorrow is the last day of the good hair cutting days for growth. Guess I'll get my hair trimmed tomorrow.I'm anxious to see how it works. My hair is near my waist and has seemed to slow down in the last year. I've heard that each persons hair kinda has a maximum growth potetial. This is the longest I have had mine in my 30 yrs of life. So we'll see if cutting it tomorrow makes a difference.
I know mine only has ever gotten to a certain length ... the more time I spend outdoors, the better :)

actually I am kind of uncertain of day and time.
We are in JUNE 2010 right now,
1.What day is good to cut for max growth?
2.What time should I do it also?
Is it normal for my hair to shedd in the summertime? It gets longer the more it shedds. You recommended cider vinegar to someone on here what does that do and how do I use it?
This is an excellent way to cut through the deposits on the scalp left by shampoos/conditioners. It also leaves hair soft and shiny.
I use it every other wash (with a conditioner at the end as my hair is dry).
I use 50/50 water/cider vinegar. Then at the bathroom sink before my shower, I use 2 quart-size plastic tubs or tupperware-type bowls. Just put one in the sink and pour the other with the liquid slowly so that all the scalp gets soaked, making sure the drippings go in the other bowl. Then just switch out the bowls and pour again ... I usually do it 3 or 4 times.
Then I leave it on while showering and rinse and condition at the end.
I could actually feel my scalp's pores breathe.

Hi. I've been losing my hair horribly for the past several years. I lose handfuls every time I wash my hair and I'm worried that eventually I'm going to have no more to lose :( Today is March 22, 2011; when is the best time for a cut. My hair is very fine and grows very slow and I only cut it about once a year. I wash it every other day with a sulfate free shampoo. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
My advice would be get your thyroid checked THOUROUGHLY. Not just your run of the mill blood test. A wacky thyroid can cause major hair loss. I went through this, it's horrible. If you are into natural cures, vegtable iodine, kelp, and dulse are good places to start to straighten out your thyroid. Took me about a year to finally get mine balanced. Hair is finally starting to return. Not saying this is your issue, but suggest you check it out. Look up all the symptoms of thyroid before you go to your doctor, so you know exactly which ones you have. I had swollen thyroid (you could actually see it bulging out of my neck) it felt like something was stuck in my throat, was constantly cold, I could gain or lose 5 pounds in 2-3 days, and alot of hair loss, including the outer eyebrows. Doc did run of the mill blood test and told me my throid was fine. Yeah right! I got fed up, and went to a naturopath. Took awhile to get it straightened out, took even longer for my hair to start returning, but I got results! Also just FYI, I'm pretty sure that the flavored coffee creamers I was using daily are a big part of what caused my issue. Don't know if you use them or not, but after going on supplements, the swelling in my thyroid would go down, and as soon as I had a cup of coffee with that creamer, bang, about 10 min later, I could feel it swell a bit, the more I drank the worse it got. Anyway, I found that looking up in the almanac the day that is closest to the new moon, and is under a water sign really encourages growth. Stay away from the days that are in a fire sign especially if they are in conjuction with the equator. BAD hair days, especially if you dye or perm on a fire sign. Hope this helps. :)
Everyone tell that haircut is necessary to grow faster, I as well think so. Whenever I cut my hair then I find my hair is growing faster. Haircut is necessary plus oiling and treatment is also necessary. According to my knowledge, hair wash must me done thrice a week not more then that. :)

I did this for two years and my hair grew extremely faster when I trimmed at least .5 cm of my hair every new moon. In just two years my hair went from 14 inches long to 30 inches long, brushing the top of my gluteal fold (brushing the top of my butt crack). When I cut my hair, it would not grow at half that speed unless I trimmed it almost monthly. I also tried trimming my hair every two months. I noticed that when doing this, my hair grew longer quickly, but was thinner.

I have cut my jair by the astrological time table for almost 50 years now. It works. I am a living testimony to this theory. Mind you; you can not cut it once by the moon and expect overwhelming results. This practice is most successful when repeated faithfully. It wont happen overnight; but I would almost guarantee that if you cut (or trim) your hair faithfully by the moon at least 3 - 4 times in one year, that after 1 year you will most definitely see the results you are looking for. For years my hair would almost touch the back of my knees. I could cut almost 6 inches off at one time and within 6 months it could be almost back to the 6 inches I took off!!

Do you have to trim all of your hair to encourage growth? I read somewhere that you only have to trim a piece of your hair to encourage growth. My hair is very short now and I want to grow it out.
We recommend speaking to your hair dresser about how much you would need to trim.
Our folklore suggests only cutting/trimming hair during the waxing phase of the Moon. Anything cut during the waning Moon will not grow well, including plants, hair, and fingernails.
