The perfect clock?

It has been proved that the perfect clock will be one that never goes as it will be absolutely right with no error at all at least twice a day.
Any help

New Years moon

Hello. I am a musician, a single mother with one son in college and very interested in astronomy. I am also happy to have found this forum as well as site, have been reading the Almanac for years and years.

Here is my question: This New Years Eve the moon will be full and a so called "blue moon". When was the last time this happened?

RE: New Years Full Blue Moon

.
Welcome Wolfsong, and that's a good bit of info there ... hope it doesn't foretell even more craziness on New Year's than there normally is!

Enjoy the website!! There are many more articles than they used to have.

Cheap Books On Astronomy

There is a large number of CHEAP books on Astronomy at www.amazon.com... I just purchased a 10 inch telescope to go with a go-to scope I already had and a few Astronomy books. Never to old or young to learn about our Universe.

Astrology is one of the best

Astrology is one of the best subjects I could ever had. I do like the idea that we can fly into space yet it was disappointing to know that we have not gotten the technology to see through the clouds. NASA cancelled this morning's space shuttle landing and rescheduled it for tomorrow! They had to cancel the Discovery Space Shuttle from landing since the clouds were too thick and low to clearly land.Let's hope that on Tuesday there is no naturally occurring event that prevents NASA from landing the space shuttle. At least this time they created a backup landing spot in California so if Florida is too cloudy they have someplace else to land.

Harvest Moon

Hi, Aline.

The Full Moon is actually on Friday October 22 and it is the Harvest moon. I'm not sure of when exactly it will be full, but it will still be plenty fully and bright on Saturday the 23rd too.

You might want to check out this site for lots of detail on the movement of the planets: http://www.zodiacal.com/ephemerides/2010.htm

And this site is just awesome for the written word about all things astrological.

I am sorry to read that your brother passed away and I hope he rests in peace.

Can anyone tell me the best Moon Sign to quit or how to calculate the signs so i can tell when to stop (cold turkey)? My mother, planted every plant, bore children, weened babies, cut hair, etc by the signs of the moon, but Rest her Soul, she is no longer with me. If it makes any difference, I'm CANCER

Hello... My user name is Orion (my favorite constellation). I live in a small town in Kentucky. I enjoy backyard astronomy, weather watching, and nature from both science and Moon-sign perspectives. I also mow and trim the yard. I tend to think the Moon signs are more of a way to organize tasks. However, I do see the influence of the Moon's phases upon life here on Earth--animal behavior, plant behavior, soil changes, and especially my dog's behavior when the two of us are outside at night observing the Moon, planets, and stars. Yes, my dog does watch the Moon as she listens to the night noises--with her ears perked up. I really like almanacs.
