Less than 2 months till season and this?

Someone appeared to be poaching Sandhill Cranes near my place, I couldn't see anyone but thought I saw one fall after I heard a shot! They have eaten more than there share of grasshoppers and will be missed greatly, I wouldn't have room to gripe if they had taken to birds during season. I spend more and more trying to control the grasshoppers most every year and really wish they were back, not sure if they were even killed, but they haven't been around. If they would have waited till season at least most of the damage would have been done and the grasshoppers would be mostly killed off by the frost.
