Corn question

The corn seed YB gave me last year has produced very nice plants..they are about 4 ft tall and very healthy. I planted in corn mounds and am very pleased so far.

So what's my question? Well, I am in Zone 8. Since the sweet corn has done so well, I bought some silver queen to plant as the directions on back of packet said could plant until July. The Almanac planting guide said plant in April.

So, can I plant the silver queen? Am I too late?

June 1st is the last date

I am told for your zone, You can try it... Just don't cross pollinate with the Heirloom I gave you..

Correct,

You can save Heirloom seeds but not Hybrids which is what the Silver Queen is.

Cool. You are probably going

Cool. You are probably going to die when you see how I did them in my raised bed, but so far so good. Since I moved all my raised beds to my front yard, I'm much more aware of how fast corn really does grow..lol. I'm no stranger to growing it, it's just when I was kid I never paid attention to the preparation, etc at my Grandma's house. Only the hard labor of shucking and canning it..whew hot in the kitchen with no A/C back then! You can see the pictures: http://simplelifesforme.blogspot.com/
