"MASSILLON, Ohio - Somebody call Guinness. A couple of growers near Massillon are boasting a world-record breaking pumpkin, weighing in at nearly a ton.
Nick and Christy Harp of Jackson Township are the proud parents of a 1725 pound pumpkin.

Last year the Harps made boats out of their giant gourds, but this year Christy says they're planning to take their great pumpkin to the Big Apple, for some professional carving.
Wow! A 1725 pound pumpkin. What do they inject it with? ha ha. That is amazing and I hope they win.

Like you Lantanalane I have been wondering where he is. I am going to try to grow Pumpkins next year and was relying on him for advice when in trouble (and I will be). My Daughter has bought me the seeds, they are called'Snowman Pumpkins' god only knows what will come up and what the fruit will look like. I will keep you posted.
I am not sure if he is bothered by the size as it is the quality of the fruit that's important not the size.
