Lots of flooding in my area, and another big shower for tonight!

My pond is full to the brim!

Five feet deep, and also there may be a new spring starting to flow out of the ground near the pond!

Saturated soil..

causing ground water levels to surface, you need to drill a well at that location.

Is your house ok??

My house is high and dry! :)

That's the way my pond got started, damp gravel was there and that's where I had them dig when I sold some of the gravel.

I think I may try digging down by hand, the usually almost impossible to dig gravel bar should be a easy task this saturated with water, the water seems to lubricate the rocks.

The water is beginning to flow over the bank of the pond now and is almost joined up with the new pond that took over my bog garden.

I have two people who have died from the flooding so far.

Lots more rain on the way!

I was only able to dig

about most of a shovel blade deep and only made the hole 18 inches square, but now it's a creek, small but that is what it is! :)

In the last 24 hours,

we got 1.81 inches of rain.

6.33 so far this month, much more than normal for us!

Creeks and rivers were just going down good,

when a whole new rainstorm started, not much has hit here yet, but 1-3 inches was fore-casted. The National Guard has been called in to assist in both the Crow reservation and a town, both locations several counties away.

I had to drive through water on the freeway that was flooding from a creek thats usually just a trickle on Wednesday, and was glad yesterday it was all gone! The traffic going back home had been backed up so bad it took an extra hour to go about the 2.5 miles through the line to get through the 100 yards or so of 8 inch I estimate of water! :(

I bought a dozen goldfish and put them in the pond, most of them I've seen the last day or two have been good health and twice as big as when I put them in Tuesday! :)

We just had the creeks going down good,

Now another heavy rain is on forecast!

We had 7.71 inches of rain at my place last month on already soaked soil, so it all ran off, it hit the whole South East corner of Montana plus some of Wyoming, around here the problem has been the waterway drainage system is tiny creeks that are nothing more than a trickle if they even run water at all being raging rivers over night!

The Governor of Montana has tried getting the President to give a National declaration so we can get a bit of assistance rebuilding bridges and roadways, I haven't heard how this has turned out.

My fish I put in the pond have been doing wonderful, they have doubled tripled in size since I put them in 1-2 weeks ago, 2 batches of Goldfish (12 & 15), and 36 Rosy Red Minnows! :) Just in time for all the Mosquitoes to show up! :P
