Evening Campers!
Hope this finds every one well and in good spirits!
Wellll we have had an interesting few days. Tuesday night 12:-6 AM Wed morning I was in bed reading and heard rain falling.. ok kept on reading.. then I heard HAIL...Hail? It's November... ok kept on reading..then off in the distance I heard a FREIGHTTRAIN... we have NO TRAINS near us... uhoh... Fright train is getting closer and louder.... louder OMG!!!!!!!! TORNADO!!!!! The cats have all scattered... BAM!!!! The entire house is literally shaking.... I ran to my husband and said I hitnk we justhad a tornado..... ok it's over now it's raining and windy... We grabbed flash lights and looked outside. Black as pitch.
MORNING.....OMG Trees have been uprooted everywhere.. I mean HUGE TREES.. 4-5 across the driveway.. our beautiful Blue Spruce, everywhere. Our huge old persimmon tree is now lying across our neighbor's son's HONDA ACCORD. He has A lot of damage... other neighbor also. We have some shingles off.. but all of them were lifted so the seals have been broken. HUGE Tulip Poplar is nor thru my garden fence.... and out the other side. One guy 2 streets over lost 57 trees. His yard and house looks like a bomb exploded. I called National Weather Service. We had what is called a MICDROBURST. as ALL the trees are leaning, snapped or uprooted in the same direction.
We have been cleaning up.. cutting down trees, and today we were able to re-right the Blue Spruce. I am just thankful that we are all ok.

Is it spring yet?

I'm thankful you are OK too!

Sounds like you are really lucky not to have had more damage!

I hope your Blue Spruce survives, and that all of your wild fur babies were somewhere safe!

Deb, Glad You & Yours Are Safe

Microburst? That wind was jammin'!!!! Bet you did have a tornado.

Sorry to hear all the losses. What a mess! How did the electricity stay on? By luck I think.

Suppose you have to take a good hard look at your roof now.

Take it easy thru the cleanup, don't need to hurt yourself before the Holidays.

Be sure,

all the wood from any non-savable trees goes to good use, just as well make the most of the bad situation!

If you can't salvage them for lumber or even firewood, they should still make good shelters for your critters! :)

THANK YOU ALL for your kind

THANK YOU ALL for your kind wishes! We are truly blest that we had no really bad damages. The tree guys were here today with their industrial chipper and chain saws.Since we converted our fireplace to propane we are using the wood chips as mulch! It is already almost 5feet high! The guys will be back on Tuesday to finish! We used some of the Chipped "Mulch" today and will use it all up.. hopefully we can use it in my garden too! The tree that went thru the garden and it's twin will be taken down on Tuesday and will be in the garden as mulch. If I Can I'll post a picture of the mulch pile before we use it all!
We are currently waitting on USAA for approval for roof and fence repairs. Th etrees that did NOT do any damages to any structure are OUR cost and it is HEFTY!

BUT we are thankful that we and our neighbors are all safe and well!

Amazingly the electricity DID

Amazingly the electricity DID stay on!!! TRUST me THAT was a miracle! We have multiple piles of homemade mulch and more will be made on Tuesday when the tree guys come back.We have pulled out some GREAT tree stumps that in the spring I can put planters on, use to feed the birds on and several have natural holes in the center... I can plant small flowers IN the holes!!!!

How was your THanksgiving Bumps.. everyone?

How's the cleanup coming?

Or did you get that all done already?

I have plenty of cleanup that never ends with my place without that kind of destructive weather making more, but for now the snow has buried all that! :D

I think I'll get back out there and try a bit more pruning so maybe I'll get done by spring. :)

Thanks Deb,

I'm making the best of it anyway! :)

But I need to get more trees and bushes growing to catch the snow in places where it won't get even my big ol Suburban stuck despite all it's weight and good tires to get extra traction!,,,but to make matters worse with having gotten the Suburban stuck, I had to replace the windshield in it from the chain flipping up into it when the chain came loose while trying to pull out with my truck.

At any rate that storm was just before Thanksgiving, at least the snow fall, the wind came Wednesday Thursday and Friday that week really hard, and even though we got several days up near 40 F, the snow has stuck around, especially after the last 3 nights now with thermometer readings around 0 F,,,,but now it's to stay nice most of the rest of the week.

Not sure if I should look at it Optimistically that it's only 2 weeks till the days start getting longer, or Pessimistically that it's only 2 weeks till winter begins! ;)

But, I shouldn't have gotten myself off to a bad start this off season with my wanting it to be spring already as soon as the leaves began turning color for fall!,,,,Almost every day I catch myself thinking "Is it Spring yet!",,,,I must have a more positive attitude about the season, as A: I get so burned out during the on season for the garden, B: I still have plenty of preparation to during the winter, and C: there's nothing I can do to change the seasons but enjoy them! :D

Let me give you a tip YB

If your like me and have a perfect memory, perfect in that I forget how old everyone is then what I do is just remember the year they were born. Then it is easy.
Most of our snow has gone now and we have had c few balmy days, you know about 40F. But it won't last we are expecting snow on Wednesday. Hope they are right as I have organised it so as we do all our trips on Monday and Tuesday then go into hibernation again till it goes.
Remember me saying about keeping apples in shredded paper well i am also storing my carrots and parsnips the same way and it seems to work.

We won't blame you if,

you burrow under some shredded news paper yourself, if you are really so old you really remember when everyone else was born! ;)
