I need a privacy screen between my unfenced front lawn and the highway, I am hoping this will work. I have lots of room for it. I do not have small children or any animals that would be in contact with it. What is your opinion?

Columnar Poplar Trees of some kind,

They are great at cleaning pollution out of the air, and will make a quick screen, not sure how they do with roadway salts though.
