Our backyard gradually slopes to the rear property line. Along the rear we have a ground cover of an unknown plant about 30" in depth. Along the property line we have an old chain link fence (removal is a project for another year!).

I would like to remove the ground cover and replace it with tall ornamental grass that will hide the fence. I am looking for something more like what you see along the highway, similar to what you may see in a marsh. I do not want the ornamental grass that grows in a bunch.

Any suggestions on types and when to seed?

Look into these:

switchgrass

Giant reed

Giant Chinese Silver Grass

Possibly Ravennagrass, elephant grass
