I wish we could return to days gone by
When our neighbors,we did not fear
When a cheerful good morning and how are you
Were words that were sincere
When children showed respect and obedience
To their parents and their teachers
And everyone knew us by our names
Our storekeepers,doctors aqnd preachers
We all went to church on Sunday
It was considered a part of life
And marriage vows were sacred
Between a husband and his wife
No one carried a gun or knife
They were helpful,friendly and kind
Families ate their meals together
They'd communicate while they'd dine
Although,it was meant to improve our lives
Somehow technology has taken it's toll
With each new gadget that we acquire
We lose a little more heart and soul
