Leaves turning already!

I have a silver (or water) maple in my front yard. I say silver because the leaves are silver on the bottom side and the trunk is a silver / white color. This is what I remember of silver maples, growing up in South Central Ohio as a boy. The leaves are starting to turn already on the North side of the tree, although I do not believe this really means too much, down here in Florida. Can anyone give me some info concerning this turning of the leaves, this soon in August? Thanks, Jeff in Florida
