KEEP THEM PICKED. If you don't, as the plants mature, they will slow down and stop producing.
For an early crop, start cucumber seeds indoors. They like bottom heat (about 70° F). If you don't have a heat mat, put the seed flats on top of the refrigerator, or perch a few fourpacks on top of the water heater.
Where cucumber beetles are a problem, plant late. Let the beetles come out of hiding and go after everybody else's cucumbers. When yours are up and growing, the cucumber beetles will be gone, fooled into thinking you don't have any cucumbers in your garden.
