A new gardening question of the day appears every day of the year on the front page of Almanac.com. Below is the answer to one of the questions from our Gardening Questions and Answers Archive where you can find over 400 more gardening questions (with answers!).
How can I grow palm trees from seeds? I live in northeastern New Jersey, and the seeds are from southern California.
Not knowing what kind of palm seeds you have makes it hard to know whether the trees are going to survive in New Jersey. You can plant the seeds in pots and keep them indoors until you know whether they are a hardy variety. If the seeds have a hard cover, make a nick in the coat. Soak them in warm water overnight, then plant them in light, loose soil. Keep the pots in a warm spot and water when needed.
