Gardening Questions and Answers

A new gardening question of the day appears every day of the year on the front page of Almanac.com. Below is the answer to one of the questions from our Gardening Questions and Answers Archive where you can find over 400 more gardening questions (with answers!).

Question:

Why did my broccoli bolt and go to flower?

Answer:

Once broccoli has formed a nice round head, it is ready to be picked. If it is not, it will begin to flower. This will happen more quickly in warm weather. Even though it has flowered, broccoli can still be harvested and eaten. However, the florets will have a slightly different taste and appearance.
