Wirlpool Galaxy

The great Wirlpool Galaxy in the constellation Canes Venatici is actually two galaxies that have just collided ( a few million years ago ) The little galaxy “NGC5195” has just skimmed past the larger spiral galaxy. You can see where gravitational forces have pulled away part of the spiral arm. Billions of stars have been displaced.
