I live in NE PA. I was surprised this year to see my first wooly bear in July. I've never seen them this early. In the past few months I've seen 5 or 6 all black. Recently I've seen a few black on each end and brown in the middle and one all brown. Since I was very young my family believed that the more black, the worse the winter weather. A few years back I saw my first all black in the Phila. area and they got more snow than we did in the Poconos. One storm dropped 15" of snow that year. But our local weatherman says don't pay attention to the colors of wooly bears to predict weather.
