In S.W. Virginia here,In S.W. Virginia here, started to see the woolly bear near the end of Sept. and at that time they were all burnt orange/brown in color. But now there are a ton of them everywhere, and they are all solid black.. and a few with hardly any brownish orange color to them. Guess that means bad winter here. And this has been passed down for years, and has always been right.
