Early this Saturday morning, May 25, at 12:25 a.m. EDT, this month’s full Moon will make its appearance.
According to the May issue of The Old Farmer’s Almanac Monthly magazine, this Moon is known as the Full Flower Moon because flowers spring up in abundance this month. Some Algonquin tribes also called this Moon the Corn Planting Moon or the Milk Moon.
The May Almanac Monthly magazine also provides some insight into one of the most frequently asked reader questions: Do phases of the Moon really affect whether fish will bite? The answer is (quite possibly) yes; the Almanac advises that the best time to fish is between the new and full Moons.
