Is there a way to look up snowfall only by location? As opposed to total precipitation without specifics on how much makes up rain and snow?

Submitted by

By location it will give you occurances of snow (ie Did it snow that day? yes/no) and average snow depth.

I am looking for a record of total number of days,in 2014,

I need weather history back into the 1700s, can I get it from you?

Submitted by

Hi Jim, Our weather history tool goes back to 1960.
Although the recording of weather was important in the 1700's (and even our first presidents were avid weather reports), truly reliable and consistent national weather reporting didn't get going until the 1800's. In 1870, the first U.S. weather service was established. Learn more here: http://www.weather.gov/timeline

Can I use "Customized Weather History" to search weather in Canada?

Submitted by

Yes, we cover the United States and Canada.

Submitted by

I just ordered the "customized weather tool" and want to get specific weather information (i.e. daily temperature--not averages) and the coldest 5 days from 1/2009 to present. How can I obtain this information with this tool?

Submitted by

1) Run the report for the date range you want (1/1/2009 thru today)
2) Go the "Temperature" section of the results and look for the "Download Raw Data" link under the Average Daily subsection.
3) Download the text file. Open it in Excel as a comma deliminated file. It will show you the temperature for each day. Your report would have about 2,015 dates (rows) in it.
The average daily temperature is the temperature for the day. It is not a blending of days to get the average. Each day has a high and low temperature. There is no rule that says temperature recorded at exactly noon for instance is the official temperature for the entire day. Temperatures tend to rise throughout the day and then drop at night. Consquently, there is an average for the day that best represents the temperature for that day.
If you look at our report online it will tell you the average daily temperature for the entire range you selected, which is not what you want. However if you download the raw data you'll see what the temps were for specific days.

I need the average monthly temperature readings for Bryan, Texas for 2012 thru April 2014. Thank you.

You should be able to get that data easily with our Customer Weather History search tool.

I have an astronomy application. For a certain location, was it clear or cloudy at midnight for a range of summer dates? Can I do that query here?

Submitted by

It won't tell you if it was clear or cloudy precisely at midnight, but it will give you that information for the day.

Submitted by

I'm trying to get snow level of Plain, WA; whenever I look at history data it switches to a larger city nearby. Can I get snow data for Plain, WA (rather than Wenatchee, WA)?

Submitted by

No. Most likely the data for Plain is missing or incomplete. Our weather history tool will automically go to the next best reporting weather station near your city or zip code.

Submitted by

I am trying to build charts showing the daily high and low temperatures for a handful of US cities over a 5-year period. Does your product give me this information, and would I have to download it as raw data and import to Excel to create the chart?

Submitted by

Yes it does.

If however the charts are not exactly to your liking then you could also download the data into Excel and creat your own charts.

Submitted by

Hi,

I am not sure if humidity is available on the historical data. Let me know where to find it so I could proceed purchasing the product.

Thanks for your question. Please see the descriptive copy tool, it lists the type of weather phenomena that is reported on within the tool. I think it would be helpful to check out the sample reports as well so you can see how the data is presented.
Thanks!

I purchased this product in hopes of getting more detailed hail reports. I can download raw data for other items I don't even need, but I was specifically looking for hail. Why don't these occurrences have a more detailed report or graph, while the others do?

Submitted by

We are only able to provide data that has been document by the weather service near your location.  Most weather stations only provide total perciptation and they do not specify if it is rain, snow or hail.

Submitted by

Will I be able to download raw daily data from this site with a subscription? I want to look at deviations from average temperature, how long they last, how often they occur, how significant the deviation, etc...

If not, is there another service that might facilitate this?

Submitted by

Yes, you can download a report of data in a txt file with daily information for the date range you have searched.

Submitted by

I just paid for the one-year subscription but I don't see the place I'm supposed to click to build my custom weather report. Please advise.

I need yearly snowfall and average data by state from 1980-2006. Would I be able to get this with a yearly access to the database? Thanks!

Submitted by

No. While we have yearly snowfall & averages from 1980-2006, the info is not presented by state. It is presented by city, state or zipcode.

Submitted by

I aready posted & now want the information!

I'm getting this to see what the weather is like on the day our daughter is getting married on!

Sorry, U.S. only as the data comes from the U.S. government.

I downloaded the weather data fo Minneapolis from 2000-2013. The highest wind gust was listed as 71.35 for August 28, 2007. When I downloaded the text file it showed up as only 62mph for that date. What is the difference?

Submitted by

Great question. In the raw data you downloaded, 62 was in knots. The 71.35 was in miles-per-hour. Our website did the conversion for you. In the future to avoid confusion, we will do the conversion for the downloaded data as well.

I need weather data for a day in February in Cumberland MD. the search gets me to a place in PA not really close. do you have a map with the locations for which you have data?

Submitted by

Sorry no map. The tool searches for and pulls the most complete weather station data for the town or area you select. As not every location has its own weather station, the tool will pull from the next closest surrounding area.

I'm trying to get the Weather history for May in Paris, Texas for 2011 - 2013

I just purchased this program and I cannot view any of the data. I get the following error report each time I try to run a search:

I was looking for wind direction for past weather reports and not just the daily average but the direction of wind hourly. Will I be able to get this info from here and will i be able to look up Canadian city's?

Hi I Just bought this tool as I needed precipatation history which was promised, but it's not included! Can you please help me with that?

Precipitation and other data isn't always recorded. It varies by weather station and location. If you need a full refund, please just let us know.

I'd be very interested in an iPhone App version of this program, and so would the group of 150 million iPhone and iPad owners. Assume a conservative minimum of 5 percent of 150 million, which is 7.5 million, priced at $4.99. That's roughly $40 million. So yeah, I'd probably write an iPhone app, or hire someone to do it.

Submitted by

5% a "conservative minimum" lol that's a pigs flying dream.. That said yes they are idiots for not having a Android and iPhone app 2 years ago

Submitted by

Nothing soon, but it's in the works, as is an app for our long range weather forecasts. When ready there will be announcements and promotion.

Submitted by

Is there a way I can get high, low, and average humidity for the various locations I'm interested in?

Submitted by

No humidity, just dew points.

Submitted by

Interested in the wind reports. Does it only show the mph? I am interested in the average daily wind DIRECTION such as SE,SW etc along with the mph.

Submitted by

Sorry, no direction. Just low, average, and high speeds for gusts and sustained winds.

Submitted by

Can I get the min, max and average humidity, or just the average humidity, for each day going back to the beginning of 2010, for Clearwater, Florida?

Submitted by

Sorry, the reports only include Average Dew Point for the time frame you select. There is no direct mention of average humidity or relative humidity.

Submitted by

How specific to a certain zip code is your weather history information? For example, if I need to know historic low temps in a specific zip code, where does your information come from? Thanks

Submitted by

The weather history data is culled from a government database of weather station reports. Since the amount of weather station in a given area can vary, as well as the completeness of each report, our search tool will pull info from several weather stations 10, 20, or 30 miles away to present as complete and accurate report as possible. You will not be given the exact locations of all weather stations used.

Is there a way I can get historical weather reports for the whole month of May for a walk on the California Coast between San Francisco and Los Angeles?

Submitted by

I need a customized weather history for St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada. Your site states that it is for U.S. only. Is there a site where Canadian data can be obtained?

Submitted by

How can I get the history of average weekly temperature for a set of U.S. cities at a time in one single file?

Submitted by

Try a database made available by the government, such as http://www.noaa.gov

Submitted by

Hi, I live in the West San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, CA. Can I find out when the last day of frost was for the city I live in with your almanac?

Submitted by

Our Customized Weather History search tool won't tell you if there were deposits of small ice crystals formed on the ground or other surfaces (frost), but it will give you the minimum temperature. For example, it was 30.0°F (a light freeze) in Calabasas, California on just Jan 13, 2013. Our Customized Weather History search tool goes back to 1960. The coldest day we could find was a moderate freeze of 25.3°F on Jan 14, 1963.

Submitted by

Would I be able to access the highest recorded sustained wind speed and highest recorded gust speed for various cities (Austin, TX, Pensacola, FL, Savannah, GA, Charleston, SC, Virginia Beach, VA, and Dayton, OH) all with one 1 year access?

Submitted by

Yes. You can run as many zip codes (or cities) as you wish and there is max sustained, max gust, ans avg daily wind speed.

Submitted by

Can I get Average Monthly Temp's by Year for Corvallis, OR from 2008-2012?
aka
Jan 2008 - X Temp Feb 2008 - X Temp
Jan 2009 - X Temp Feb 2009 - X Temp
Jan 2010 - X Temp Feb 2010 - X Temp

Submitted by

Yes, this tool does that well. However, be aware that it will group your results, which means if you input Jan and Feb at the same time, it will just give you the 2 month average. Additionally, if you put in more than one year, it will give you the multi-year average. If you need to see your data by single month and single year, then you have to run the reports one at a time, which could take while if you have many years to do.

Submitted by

Hello,

I work for Bombardier Transport in Quebec. Our client Metro North Railroad in NY state is telling us that the lowest yearly temperatures encountered along their rail lines can be lower than -5 deg F. I would need a history of lowest winter temperatures (since as far back in time as you can go) at nothern-most stations along each route which are: Poughkeepsie, Waissac, Otisville, Danbury, Spring Valley, Waterbury. Is this possible for you to deliver? Thanks.

Submitted by

Yes it will deliver. You would enter city and state or US zip code. The tool goes back to 1960 and provides average and lowest recorded temperature for your date range. What's handy is you could run a report for just the cold months over a set of years versus looking at annual data if you so desired.

Is there anyway to find out what day in 1991 that it snowed in Conyers, Ga?

Submitted by

Yes. That is one of the things this weather history search tool does. We just took a quick peek and weather stations in and near Conyers reported 8 snow occurrences in 1991. Although they only reported one day with a Snow Depth (.4" on Jan 24, 1991). Sounds like on the other 7 days it snowed at least a little but it didn't stick to the ground.

How do I download reports to Excel?

Submitted by

The name of each report is in a red block in the upper left hand corner (click on one of the sample reports and you'll see it). Just underneath the report name is a link called "Download raw data." Click that, save it to your desktop, then open that CSV file with Excel.

Submitted by

The download raw data produces a TXT file, not a CSV file.
