This basic recipe is great for coconut cakes, chocolate cakes, and is easy to fix.
Yield: 8-10 slices
- 2 cups self-rising flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/4 cup vegetable shortening
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour your cake pan.
Sift together flour and sugar in bowl; set aside. Melt vegetable shortening, cool, then beat in eggs. Stir in milk and vanilla.
Add sugar/flour mixture to egg mixture; mix well and pour into cake pan. Bake for 20-23 minutes until golden brown.
