Yield: Makes 15 biscuits.
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 2 cups flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1/2 cup Crisco shortening
- 2/3 cup half-and-half
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Maple butter: Warm up stick of butter, add maple syrup, and then mash. Set aside. Biscuits: Sift dry ingredients and cut in Crisco. Add half-and-half and stir with fork. Pat or roll dough 1/2 inch thick and cut with a biscuit cutter. Bake for 10 minutes on ungreased baking sheet. Serve with maple butter.
