Serve on a platter with stuffed eggs and other cheeses.
Yield: Makes 2 dozen.
- 1 cup flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
- 3 tablespoons water
- Dash of Tabasco
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Grease baking sheets. Sift together flour and salt. With fingers or pastry blender cut in butter and half the cheese, Add water and Tabasco and blend well, Turn dough out onto floured board and knead lightly until smooth. Using your fingers, mix in remaining cheese and roll out into rectangle 1/4-inch thick. Cut dough into strips 1/2-inch wide and 5 inches long. Place strips on greased baking sheet and bake 10 minutes or until brown.
