  • 1/2 cup dried apricots
  • 1/2 cup white raisins
  • 1/2 cup dates
  • 3/4 cup coarsely chopped nuts
  • 3 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon soda
  • 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 egg, well beaten
  • 1 and 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Cut the apricots in strips with scissors and place in a bowl with the raisins. Cover with boiling water and let stand for 15 minutes. Drain well. Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, and soda into a mixing bowl. Add the sugar, fruits, and nuts. Mix well. Stir in the egg mixed with the milk and butter. The batter will be rather thin. Pour it into a well-greased loaf pan. Let stand for 20 minutes. Bake in a 350 degrees F oven for 1 hour, then cool on a rack.
