This is the recipe of my mother, and I still think them the most delicious small cakes for tea, for picnic boxes, or to pass with fruits or ices.
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 eggs, separated
- 1 cup nuts
- 1 package dates
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- salt
Mix the egg yolks and sugar; add the other ingredients, the beaten egg whites last. Bake in a shallow pan for 30 minutes in a 350 degree F oven. Cut while warm into bars and roll in powdered sugar.
