Double Fudge Inn Bar Recipe

Top with ice cream, hot fudge sauce, and whipped cream - then dig in! --Shoreham Inn, Shoreham, Vermont

Yield: Serves 16

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup oleo
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

In large bowl, blend sugar and flour. Put oleo, water, and cocoa in saucepan and bring to boil. Add to dry ingredients in bowl. Then stir in sour cream, eggs, and soda. Mixture will be very runny. Bake in greased 15-1/2x10-1/2-inch pan at 375 degrees F for 20-30 minutes.

Icing:

  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 2-1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup oleo
  • 6 tablespoons milk
  • 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa

In bowl combine nuts, confectioners sugar, and vanilla. Put oleo, milk, and cocoa in saucepan and bring to a boil. Add to ingredients in bowl and blend. Spread warm icing on warm cake.
