Gingersnaps Recipe

  • 3/4 cup (1-1/2 sticks) butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons soda
  • 2-1/2 cups flour

Cream the butter and gradually add the sugar. Beat until light. Beat in the egg and the molasses, then little by little the sifted dry ingredients. Form into small balls, roll in more granulated sugar and place on ungreased cookie sheets about 2 inches apart. Bake at 350 degrees F for 10 to 12 minutes.
