  • 2 squares chocolate, melted
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup bread flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup chopped dates (optional)

Add the butter to the chocolate and melt. Add the sugar slowly to the eggs, then add the flour mixed with the baking powder and salt, the nut meats, vanilla, and the chocolate mixture. Spread in a greased 8-inch square pan. Bake 25-30 minutes in a moderate (350 degrees F) oven. Cut while warm.
