Pumpkin Walnut Bread

4-1/2 cups flour
2 tablespoons baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon mace
1/2 teaspoon salt
1-1/2 cups light brown sugar
1/2 cup melted butter
1-1/2 cups pumpkin puree (fresh or canned)
3 eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup milk
2 cups chopped walnuts


Sift together the dry ingredients. Combine the butter and the sugar and add to them the eggs and pumpkin. Add the dry ingredients alternately with the milk to the pumpkin mixture, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the nuts. Pour into well greased loaf pans and bake in a 350 degrees F. oven for about 1 hour.
