Real Old-Fashioned Strawberry Preserves


2 pounds white sugar
2 pounds strawberries
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar


Combine the sugar, strawberries, and cream of tartar. Let simmer slowly until the sugar melts, then cook briskly for 15-20 minutes. Let stand 24 hours, pack in sterile jars, and seal cold.
