This was a favorite cookie recipe that my grandmother would bake for me and my siblings. As a child I ate them up with milk, but now I prefer them with a cup of chamomile tea.

Yield: 2 dozen cookies

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup of 2% or whole milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup of grape or strawberry jam

Mix all dry ingredients in a large bowl. Then add eggs and milk. Combine well.

Drop by tablespoon on greased cookie sheet. Make an impression with thumb and fill impression with jam.

Bake at 375 degrees F for 8-10 minutes.
