Creamy Light candy that makes a tasty gift.
Yield: Makes 15-20 squares.
- 4-1/2 cups brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups sour cream
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
Butter a shallow baking dish. Combine sugar, salt, and sour cream. Cook to the soft ball stage (when a bit of syrup dropped into a cup of cold water forms a soft ball). Cool slightly and add vanilla. Beat until thick and creamy, then add nuts. Pour into buttered dish. When slightly cool cut into squares.
