An excellent version of an ever-popular buffet dish.
In a mixing bowl, soak the bread in the milk. Add the onion, eggs, sugar, and salt and pepper. Add the ground beef and mix well. Using two spoons or wet hands, form the meat mixture into balls between the size of Ping-Pong balls and golf balls. Roll in the flour.
Heat the margarine in a large skillet. Fry the meatballs until golden brown. You will have to fry them in several batches. As the meatballs brown, transfer them to a shallow baking pan and keep warm in a 300 degrees F oven.
