Celebrating John Chapman, legendary American pioneer and folk hero who planted apple trees across the American Frontier. Chapman's birthday is on September 26th but Johnny Appleseed Day is celebrated on March 11th.
The term "red-letter day" originates with the tradition of marking holy days in a church calendar in red.
