Aurora borealis, or the Northern Lights, along with Blooming flowers, chirping birds and warmer weather are all signs that spring has arrived. For reasons not yet fully understood by scientists, the weeks around the vernal equinox are prone to auroras. But NASA is aiming to solve this mystery and others with a new mission to study the Northern Lights, called THEMIS.

When I lived in Fairbanks AK I saw them they were so lovely. I enjoyed this one because it showed the brilliant colors even more.
