Annual Weather Summary: November 2011 to October 2012
Winter temperatures will be a bit above normal, on average, with a mild first half of winter offset by persistent cold in the second half. The coldest temperatures will occur in mid-January, the first half of February, and early March. Snowfall will be much above normal, except in Newfoundland and Labrador, where it will be slightly below normal. The snowiest periods will occur in late December, late January, mid- and late February, and mid-March. Precipitation will be above normal in Newfoundland and Labrador and below normal elsewhere.
April and May will be cooler and drier than normal.
Summer will be warmer and drier than normal in the east and cooler and rainier than normal elsewhere. The hottest temperatures will occur in late June, mid-July, and mid-August. Watch for a tropical storm threat in late August.
September and October will be warmer than normal, with precipitation below normal in Newfoundland and Labrador and above normal elsewhere.
