Winter temperatures will be two to four degrees above normal, on average, due to exceptionally mild temperatures through most of January. The coldest periods will occur from late December into early January, from late January into early February, and in early to mid- and mid- to late March. Precipitation will be above normal, with much-above-normal snowfall in the Panhandle and south-central region and near- or slightly above-normal snowfall elsewhere. The heaviest snowfalls will occur in mid- and late March in the north; mid-November, early January, and mid-March in the central region; late November, early December, late January, and mid- and late March in the Panhandle; and late November, late December, and early February in the south-central region and Aleutians.
April and May will be two to three degrees milder than normal, with near-normal precipitation. The heaviest snowfalls will occur in early April.
Summer temperatures will average about a degree warmer than normal in the southern half of the state and about a degree cooler than normal in the north, with near-normal precipitation. The warmest periods will be in mid-July and early August.
September temperatures will average about two degrees above normal and, while the south will remain relatively mild in October, the north will turn much colder than normal. Precipitation will be slightly below normal, with below-normal snowfall in the south and above-normal snowfall in the north. The heaviest snowfall will occur in early October across northern and central portions of the state and mid- to late October elsewhere.
