I can't kill animals because they are mean. I have a rooster who is the protector of the flock. He lost his tail and some feathers to a coyote along with my other rooster. The coyote got the nice rooster a few days later. He attacks me every so often. Gets a look in his eye. Usually I can stop him with a look and a stern no. Also I carry a big net, maybe for salmon, that my brother in law gave me. I throw the net over him if he starts up. Let him stay for a few minutes, then release. He doesn't like it and leaves me alone. Won't even be around when I have the net by me. It's very light so easy to carry. I wear pants and shoes, but he can cause a bruise thru that. I have a new rooster from a hen that blooded chicks. For some reason the new and old rooster get along. I have no problem with the young rooster. Walk all around him. I'm still learning. Been a chicken raiser for about 2 years. Love the eggs though. Really makes a difference.
