Recipe Contest Rules

HOW TO ENTER:

You must provide all information requested to receive an entry into the Sweepstakes. Sweepstakes ends at 11:59:59 PM (EST) on April 15, 2015 (“Promotion Period”).

The recipe entered must be your own, original, and unpublished. (As long as the recipe has not been published in a book or magazine, your recipe is eligible.) Amateur cooks only, please.

Winners will be drawn at random. There is no limit to the number of recipes/stories that can be submitted. Each unique, completed entry will be counted individually towards the sweepstakes.

In the event of a dispute over the identity of an online entrant, entry will be deemed submitted by the holder of the e-mail account. Submitted recipes become the property of Yankee Publishing Inc. and will not be returned.

ELIGIBILITY:

Sweepstakes open to individuals 18 years of age and who are legal residents of the 50 United States (excluding Puerto Rico) and District of Columbia. Sweepstakes void in Puerto Rico and wherever prohibited by law. Employees of Yankee Publishing Inc., and its respective affiliates, subsidiaries, dealers, or retailers, prize donors, advertising, production, and promotion agencies, and the immediate families and members of the same household of each are not eligible to enter or win. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply.

PRIZES:

The prizes are:

2-quart Le Creuset Dutch oven—in Almanac yellow, of course! (approximately $195 value)
One of two $100 VISA cards
6-quart Crock-Pot programmable slow cooker (approximately $50 value)
One of 25 Comfort Food cookbooks

The winners will be announced after the contest ends via the Almanac Companion enewsletter and also via social media on Facebook and Twitter.

Prizes are not redeemable for cash. Winners may not substitute or transfer prizes. All taxes, incidentals, and other expenses associated with prizes and not specified herein are the winners' sole responsibility. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value in the event prizes are unavailable. Prizes are guaranteed to be awarded, assuming sufficient number of eligible entries. 

SELECTION OF WINNERS:

Winners will be selected from all eligible entries received for the Promotion Period. The winner will be chosen from a random drawing. All drawings will be conducted by a representative from Yankee Publishing, Inc., whose decisions are final and binding on all matters relating to the Sweepstakes. Winners will be notified by email. If the email goes unanswered within 10 business days it will result in disqualification, and the prize will be awarded to an alternate winner in a random drawing. If any prize notification email is returned as undeliverable, it will result in disqualification, and the prize will be awarded to an alternate winner in a random drawing. Except where prohibited by law, entry constitutes permission to use winners' names, prize won, hometowns, and likenesses for online posting and/or any advertising and publicity purposes without additional compensation. Odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received.

GENERAL:

This Sweepstakes is void outside the United States and where prohibited or restricted by law and subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. This Sweepstakes will be governed by the internal laws of the State of Massachusetts. Any and all legal actions or claims arising in connection with this Sweepstakes must be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction within the United States of America. Sponsor and judges not responsible for late, lost, stolen, damaged, garbled, incomplete, misaddressed, or misdirected entries, email or communications, for errors, omissions, interruptions, deletions, defects, or delays in operations or transmission of information, in each case whether arising by way of technical or other failures or malfunctions of computer hardware, software, communications devices, or transmission lines or data corruption, theft, destruction, unauthorized access to or alteration of entry materials, loss or otherwise. Further, Sponsor and judges not responsible for electronic communications which are undeliverable as a result of any form of active or passive filtering of any kind, or insufficient space in entrant's e-mail account to receive e-mail messages. The use of automated software or computer programs to register or to enter the Sweepstakes is prohibited and any individual who uses or attempts to use such methods to register or to enter will be disqualified. Sponsor disclaims any liability for damage to any computer system or other equipment resulting from participation in, or accessing or downloading information in connection with, this Sweepstakes, and reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to modify, cancel, terminate or suspend this Sweepstakes should any virus, bug, technical failures, unauthorized human intervention, war, terrorism, disaster, fire, strikes, civil disorder, or other causes beyond Sponsor's control corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Sweepstakes. In the event of any such cancellation, termination or suspension, a notice will be posted and winners will be selected from among all eligible, non-suspect entries received prior to such time. Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any entrant (and all of his or her Sweepstakes entries) from this Sweepstakes or any other promotion conducted now or in the future by Sponsor or any of its affiliates if he tampers with the entry process or if his or her fraud or misconduct affects the integrity of the Sweepstakes. Sponsor reserves the right to correct clerical or typographical errors in promotional materials. By participating in this Sweepstakes, each entrant accepts the conditions stated in these Official Rules, agrees to be bound by the decisions of the judges and warrants that s/he is eligible to participate in this Sweepstakes. Further, by participating in this Sweepstakes, each entrant agrees to release Sponsor, its directors, employees, officers, and agents, including without limitation, its advertising and promotion agencies, from any and all liability, loss or damages arising from or in connection with (i) the Sweepstakes, (ii) the awarding, receipt, and/or use or misuse of any prize, or (iii) his/her participation in any prize-related activity.

CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS SWEEPSTAKES IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS. SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH INDIVIDUAL TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
