I am interested in beginning a collection of almanacs. I am intrigued by the history provided and would love to fill my bookshelves with them.

What is the best way to obtain copies of previous years almanacs?

Collecting Almanacs

You might try looking online at places like and eBay. Also, check out used and antique bookstores. Newer editions may be available through book sales (such as library book sales) and yard sales. Occasionally, rare finds are offered at estate sales and auctions. Good luck with your collection!

Hearing aids

My uncle gets your Almanac & spoke of some great hearing aids that were advertised in one of them. I was wondering if you could help me with this. A phone number perhaps?

Hi, Paula,

Pls give our best to your uncle!

In the 2016 edition on page 83, there is an advertisement for NeutronicEar. The phone number given is 1-866-728-7446. You are advised to mention code FA915RE.

The web site is (The code above may also be desirable; I don’t know for certain.) The ad also suggests “for product reviews, please go to the wbe site

On page 104, there is an ad for MDHearingAid. That phone number is 800-873-0541. The web site is It says “use offer code CA61 to get free batteries for a year.”

On page 115, there is an ad for PerfectChoiceHD. It says “They’re not hearing aids….[they] use advanced digital processing to amplify the frequencies of human speech.” And it says a lot more. The phone number is 1-866-428-5030. Mention code 100190. The web site is …not given.

On page 100 there is a small ad (all others are full page) for “hearing aids, save up to 70%, free catalog 800-462-5778.

That seems to be all. Pls understand that The Old Farmer’s Almanac/Yankee Publishing assumes no responsibility for claims made by advertisers or failure by its advertisers to deliver any goods or services advertised in the publication.

Farmer's Almanac

Hello. I noticed the FA was quite slimmer this year than in the past. Not that I am anti-tech. I use a computer, tablet and I-phone daily in my job and home. But when I want to kick back with a glass of wine in the evening I love thumbing through magazines. It just seems to help me relax better. I can flip from page to page. Not worry if it is loosing a charge. Can't rabbit ear an I-pad :-). You get the point. Keep it fat F.A.

Thanks for listening, I mean reading. Marty

slimmer OFA??

The Editors's picture

Hi, Marty,

Thank you for your interest in The Old Farmer’s Almanac. We’re happy to be among your relaxation techniques.

And we’re happy to tell you that the Almanac page count has not changed in years. It has been 272 pages for some time. And it has been 304 pages almost as long. Here’s what that means—and may explain your comment:

We produce several versions, all chosen to serve reader interests. Those are the national or Boston edition; the southern edition; the western edition; and the Canadian edition. All of these have 272 pages, and the same feature content but geographically relevant tide and astronomical times—although all have guidance on adapting astronomical content to any part of the U.S. All of these versions are sold on newsstands and in our branded displays (custom-made corrogated stands with shelves for up to several dozen of our publications) in a variety of supermarkets, home stores, nurseries, and other channels. These cost $6.99.

Th 304-page version is the national/Boston edition with 32 pages of reference material. This version is sold in bookstores and its prie is $7.95.

So you may have been buying the version with reference pages and then picked up a version without.

Other than that, well, maybe it’s the wine…

All the best and thank you again for your loyalty to this Almanac.

I always purchase the almanac and gardening calendar each year as soon as they hit the stands but I would also be interested in purchasing an app for my iPhone if it were offered. There are times when I am away from home that I would really enjoy the almanac.

Hi Beverly, First, thank you!

Hi Beverly, First, thank you!  We love hearing from our loyal Almanac readers. We have a few options if you’re away from home.  First, we offer a Digital Almanac that you can access from anywhere. See more here:

On this page, you’ll see that the Almanac is also available for tablets and ereaders (not phones) via iTunes, Amazon, Nook, Google, Kobo, and other retailers.

In terms of an app for iPhone or iPad, we recently created a monthly magazine called EXTRA! which is written by the editors of The Old Farmer’s Almanac.  It’s a great read for those who enjoy Almanac wit and wisdom and would like it more than once a year. Find more about EXTRA! here:

We hope this helps! If there is something else you’re seeking, please let us know and we can talk about creating it!  With all good wishes, your OFA editors
