Isn’t gardening easier when you have the right tools? This applies to planning out your garden, too! Discover the new 2025 features we’ve added to the online Garden Planner—at your request!
Quickly, for those newbies, the Almanac Vegetable Garden Planner is an online tool, just like this website. Easy enough. It does a LOT of great stuff, but its main features are the following:
Calculates the best spacing for plants—no crowding or overbuying
Provides quick-start vegetable plot plans designed by expert gardeners
Creates a shopping list for seeds and plants
Identifies which plants grow best together
Warns where NOT to plant a second crop
Provides LIVE advice from our small but mighty gardening team. Yes, a real human can answer questions in minutes!
Generates a personal planting calendar and harvesting schedule for your location.
The Planner works on any device—no download needed. And, because we want to spread the love of gardening, our Garden Planner is FREE for 7 days (truly, no credit card required). This is ample time to create your first plan and try it out. As part of your trial, you can print your garden plan and keep it forever! Learn more about our free trial.
We’re excited that over 30% of you have already used the sample plot plans introduced last year. (Imagine how much you’d need to pay a professional garden planner!) We hope these quick-start templates (designed by our expert gardeners) will make your garden planning and season much easier and more productive.
But let’s get to our 2025 features. Here are the most requested new features we have added to the Garden Planner for 2025, all requested by YOU to make your garden more successful.
Layers and Locking
Our most requested feature! It’s now much easier to achieve the perfect layout of your plan. Send items to the back or front of their layer. Or, lock them to avoid accidentally moving them.
Garden Guru Video Library
Let our experts guide you through the steps to gardening success. It’s like Netflix for gardeners!
The Garden Guru suggests videos for what you’re growing this season. This year, we made the Garden Guru fully searchable. And you can now bookmark videos and articles you find useful or inspiring.
New Plant Icons
Beautiful new plant icons make your garden plans look stunning! We’ve added icons for common multi-sown plants (e.g., clumps of onions). And we updated all Grow Guides with best practices for nourishing your soil.
Expand Your Garden
It’s now easy to add space to any side of your garden. Just head to the Plan Settings and choose top, bottom, left, or right. You can even select whole areas and rotate them.
Metal Raised Beds
In 2025 we’ll be expanding the range of Garden Objects you can add to your plans. We’ve begun by including metal raised beds. These conveniently ‘snap’ to the sizes you can make by bolting panels together.
We have lots more features planned for 2025!
Thank you to all our gardeners who make the Garden Planner the amazing tool it is.
Unsure About Whether the Garden Planner is Right for You?
If you have not tried the online Garden Planner, you’re going to be amazed by how it works to calculate spacing automatically, recommend plant pairings, generate customized planting calendars, and more.
ALSO. This year, you can also read new reviews from fellow gardeners. We publish all our reviews from verified customers—including the bad ones, so you can decide for yourself. See reviews.
